Project description

A collection of reuseable building materials has already been established. It includes hollow-core slabs from buildings that are being torn down, and work is being done to ensure maximum reusability of these slabs. This ensures best possible use of resources in the future and lowers the cost of this project. Reused windows are already in storage and designed into the facades. Steel, ventilation ducts and the inner layer of plasterboard from other buildings will also be reused.

The development aims to create a sustainable and vibrant neighbourhood with good meeting places and attractive shared facilities that benefit both climate and neighbourhood. There will be different types and sizes of apartments to choose from to attract families, old and young people.

The site at Stovner contains approximately 25,000 cubic meters, which corresponds to about 80 percent of Oslo’s annual volume of clean concrete demolition waste. These are materials that would otherwise have been transported out of Oslo. Simply by avoiding this transport and instead reusing the materials locally, 156 tonnes of CO₂ were saved. That is a significant amount.
