Project description

The project comprises four apartment blocks with around 80 units and a shared basement. It combines urban amenities with green surroundings and is within walking distance of both Asker and Høn stations, with excellent public transport links. 

The outdoor areas are being developed around the concept of ‘The Wild, Edible Garden’, with themed zones such as the fruit grove, the bee garden and the berry forest.  Nature-based play and landscape solutions are being developed through participation and co-design, with the aim of fostering a sense of community and interaction across generations. There are also plans for a greenhouse that can serve as a social meeting place for neighbours. 

Some key concepts and design objectives:

• Indoors and outdoors: Exploring opportunities for greater visual, social and experiential connection between the interior and exterior spaces within the project.
• Interaction: Facilitating interactions across age groups, particularly in outdoor areas and garden-related activities.

Energy efficiency will be attained through the design of the buildings, insulation and effective technical systems. Geothermal wells with heat pumps and solar panels will supply energy. The construction of the residential floors is timber. The concrete and steel used in the basement are optimised in terms of quantity, strength class, and with low-carbon class A and a high recycling rate to reduce emissions.
